Fermin, Do you have any idea how many revolvers Alan has in line for this conversion and his time line to complete them?

Between 3 and 5 I think, and quite a bit of work ahead of them.

great shooting Fermin! while I don't have the money/need for a 257 at this time I would certainly like to have one in a few years. i'd be very interested to see how it performs on small Game.

Takes a couple years to get a custom. Just save 100 bucks a month while you wait!
I'm quite sure it's going to be disastrous to small game.

well that's the plan I had in mind but first I need to stockpile 250 pounds of powder, 2000 pounds of lead, 1000 cases per sixgun/rifle, 5000 cases per 1911, 20,000 primers per size and some fireproof containers to keep them all in. once I do that I won't have to worry about needing anything for a while and can concentrate on guns.

In my testing of the 257 Jackrabbit, I have been seeing wide velocity variations despite reasonably decent accuracy. I weighed charges individually as I noted the H110 was flowing thru my Redding powder charger in several 10ths of variation. Still, I was seeing some 75 fps or so of velocity variation. I shot one group that was 1/2" wide but 1 1/2" inches tall. Has to be the velocity swings I think. Checking with Tank and Murbach, it might be the CCI 550 primer. So, I switched to standard primers and individually weighed some more charges. Soon as this rain passes, I will get out and see what I see.

With H110/296, I have sometimes found with revolver length barrels benefit with heavier bullets. More resistance seems to hold gases back for more uniform results.
Old news and with your vast experience, you've seen the same.
Very exciting to follow this project. New territory on the Single Six platform.

That is correct, and to address that I also loaded some 75 grain Speer bullets on 8.5 of H110 with a standard primer.

Can't wait to see the results. Guess this expected in new territory.
Your rain is moving my way. So putting chronograph, etc away for a few days.

The WSP is my next choice. I'll report back IF this weather will ever give me a break!
As to a powder choice for cast, I would say that would all depend how hard you want to push your pill. Of course powder coating would leave you pretty wide open.
Looking at Hoovers excellent results with Longshot in his 32s I'd certainly give it a try.

I shot 2 different 257 Jackrabbit loads today. Both with the standard Winchester small primer instead of the CCI 550.
75 Speer flat point 8.5 grains of H110 and the WSP gave 1330 fps and the case extraction was just a bit sticky.
60 Hornady flat point 9.5 grains of H110 and the WSP still showed very erratic velocity spreads.
Not sure what is causing the velocity extremes. We are using only case neck tension to hold the bullets in the case. While I am seeing no bullet pull, I cant but wonder if a stout crimp wouldnt help....

I would try that before anything else, and I might go back to the mag primer for five of them, and then use the WSP on about five more. But That is me. You know as much as anybody... Is the pressure going to be the same as the 25-20 Parent cartridge? Or was it determined to be a little less? I missed this, if was stated somewhere.

Pressure won't be an issue as we just can't run it up that high in a six gun.
Crimping will require a die to be made...

Wonder if the Lee Factory Crimp could be shortened for a cheaper option?
They make one for the 25-20 and mine isn't limited by shoulder restriction.
