I always find out about S&W's oddballs and special run stuff about ten years late and prices through the roof. I had one of the 396's and make the mistake of selling it to a buddy that I know will never sell it back. Truly a great carry-all-day, forget about it gun that shot good enough for me. They have become a bit spendy though, but worth the trouble. CF

IIRC there is a poster over on the 24HourCampfire named acuban who has a 625-? in .45 Colt that he personally milled the cylinder so it can shoot both AR and ACP. Check with TK Custom. They have rechambered and milled three of my Smiths to shoot 9mm and .38 Super from .38 and .357 Magnum revolvers... Bob "He" is over here too! It's a 45 Colt 625-6 with a cylindersmith.com cut job for .45 ACP clips. .45 AR will not work with these.

...I should have known "you" would be lurking somewhere.
Once the snow melts and you can get out of Gotham City we need to shoot again. No traveling for me this year so we should be able to hook up most any weekend.

Now that we're back on track... Anybody have input about a Smith 325PD? I think Fermin does/did have one of those, I have often thought it might be the perfect Scanium N frame gun. The 45 acp can be run in a full sized 26oz revolver to all the recoil I personally care to manage. It could be just the ticket.

That's sorta' what I'm thinking.
They made them with a 4" barrel too. Not many...

I wish there was a smidgen more barrel. It's not real fun to shoot with little grips like in the photo, but bigger comfortable grips seem to ruin the point. I'm not real impressed with the accuracy, though it's certainly "good enough". I've never bothered to work up a load just for it though. I plan to... but like so many other things it gets put off. IF I'm going to work up a load for it though, it'l be 45AR with a SWC. But I think I gave away my AR brass, or at least I can't find it. And I showed great restraint the other night while checking the Starline site, not charging another $100 on the already bursting credit cards.

I have a 4" 325PD. Just a very cool piece of work it is. It does require some tight crimp on the bullet. Lots of fun to shoot. A dandy to carry. Not so easy to shoot well for it's light weight. I yanked off the crapper glowing globe front and the V rear on mine. No, its not for sale....
