Good to hear you're still after it. I turn 65 in Feb. Most of my hunts were cancelled this year thanks to covid. Hoping the stars align better next year. Keep well.

Hey Dick - great to hear from you! You've been in our thoughts and prayers. Yes, I did ambush those goats but if there were any trees nearby - I missed them

bigbore, You are correct, being a non-resident without close relation as an Alaskan resident, you are required by law to hire a registered guide for sheep, goat, and grizzly/brown bear. I used Paul Chervenak and he has been guiding on Kodiak Island for many years.
I try to workout 5 days a week. I hike up and down the hills on my farm, do push-ups, stretch out, ect. If I didn't, some of these mountain hunts would be impossible -- or at the very least.......miserable!

Thanks for posting James! Just returned from hunting mountain goats on Kodiak Island. It's questionable why a guy my age wanted to go on another goat after taking two on previous hunts with single-shot handguns. It confirms what my wife has suspected after 41 years of marriage -- mental instability. I wanted to try for a mountain goat with a revolver while I'm still able to climb. I was hunting a two goat area with only one billy permitted. Took the billy at 61 yards, the nanny at 58 yards. The FA Model 83 .44 Mag. with Hornady's 240 gr. XTP performed flawless. It was also the special for me to use the dall sheep grips Rob Rowen crafted for the FA.
If you're looking for adventure -- and challenge, hunting mountain goats with a revolver will certainly fill the bill.

Rob Rowen just finished these dall sheep grips for a FA Model 83. The photos do not do the grips justice as they look fantastic. As many of you know, Rob is a master craftsman. The fit and finish on these grips is superb! I spoke with Rob beforehand regarding what I was looking for -- along with configuration and size of grips for my hand. I would like to thank Rob for his talent and professionalism! If you're looking for special grips for that special revolver -- I know a guy.....
