Started out by dropping off the grip frames with Zane Thompson. A few months later, a stunning package arrived! ![](https://photos.imageevent.com/newfrontier45/sixgunsv/large/Murbachqus%20Single%20Sixes%2001.jpg) Then I started using them to beat up my new friends. ![](https://photos.imageevent.com/newfrontier45/rangereports/large/002.JPG) We don't get a lot of ground hogs on this end of the state but when we do, I start looking for opportunities to smack `em. It happened one afternoon last week with this little bugger. You guys will remember that last year I got two Single Sixes from the estate of the late, great Terry Murbach. I decided to use the 5½" gun as a .22Mag and had it ready to go. About the only thing that was ready to go when I cracked open the back door of my shop and saw this dude browsing around. I slipped the muzzle past the door and at 35yds the 40gr Winchester JHP did the job. This 1967 model looks good with a dead critter. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ![](https://photos.imageevent.com/newfrontier45/hunting/large/Ground%20Hog%2001.jpg) Now for the 9.5" .22LR. Again, walked out the back door of my shop to do some shooting and immediately a spotted fawn about 50yds to my left caught my attention. Almost instantaneously, as it bolted off, I heard rustling to my right. Turned to look and another ground hog was running out of the brush not 10ft from me. In a dead run, I rolled him at about 20yds. He's a little bigger than the last one but still a smaller example. It's hot and I couldn't keep the flies off him for the picture. ![](https://photos.imageevent.com/newfrontier45/hunting/large/Ground%20Hog%2002.jpg)

What a great pair of revolvers. Those grips look beautiful. Just out curiosity, what grips came with the gun?

Pretty sure I remember him telling me that that 9.5" gun was a real shooter. Congratulations on a fine pair!

Very well done by Zane! Terry loved to sit with his left leg crossed over the right one & shoot steel "hogs" with those Ruger 22's & he was a fine shot. Not the same without him setting there......

The 9.5" came with this ivory polymer with hearts carved into it. These are now on a 5.5" dovetail gun. The 5.5" Super above came with the XR3-RED grip frame and I think a set of factory black eagles, which I swapped for an XR3. The 9.5" thinks it's a target rifle. I took to it real quick and it's becoming a favorite. I'm giving serious thought to some custom work, maybe even engraving. I didn't get to meet Terry until a couple years before he passed. I'll always regret not putting more effort into that friendship than I did but I guess life gets in the way. You always think you have more time, until you don't. ![](https://photos.imageevent.com/newfrontier45/sixgunsv/large/002b.jpg)

Once owned by Terry, now by Craig. That's some provenance! Two great pistoleros!
