16.25" with an OAL of 31" Should be handy in the stand Think I'll carry some earplugs to the stand though with those ports!

Since it is so short, it will probably be fed round noses, flat points, or maybe some 357 HP's designed for a revolver Just for perspective, here it is with my M700 8mm mag I believe I am going to have to find a shorter forend for it. Maybe something with a schnabel tip.

That scope looks longer than the barrel!
Cool stand gun. I suggest electronic ear muffs while hunting with a Contender. If it's cold outside the muffs will keep your ears warm. Bob

Worked this afternoon. Was only 154 long steps so it wasn't much of a challenge. The load was a 200gr Hornady Interlock over 48.5gr of Varget that I got in trade with the rifle.

Those does have a will to live that a buck doesn't seem to have. I'd love for you to get an 8mm Mag 2dogs, just not mine! I'll check with dad and see if he wants to let one go. I think he still has 4 or 5 of them.

OMG! Is that 8mag ported?!?!?!?! Sure glad I dont have to sit next to that thing at the range!! LOL!! ;D Range? What is that? We have turn rows and such to shoot at here. When you really want to stretch them out, most airstrips have a home grown concrete bench to shoot from. Just hold your fire when the crop duster is coming in And yes it has a KDF brake on it. It went from a rifle that was work to shoot to one that was pleasurable. It made such a difference that I swore anything above a 300 would have one on it.

Tek.... At the first IHMSA Internationals, Angeles Shooting Range, California 1977, I borrowed from New Hampshire shooter John Towle. XP-100 in .358 Winchester. 11" barrel with six cuts Mag-na-Port. Hornady 200 .358 200 RN as I recall. Very light double pistol grip stock by Jimmy Gilman of NH. Gilman had made NASA helmets and built very fast fiberglass canoes for serious racers. His stocks were light and strong.
Up on the ram line, a got down into prone. Ed Page of El Paso was on my right, wearing a ten gallon hat. When I touched off the 11-inch .358, it blew the hat off Ed Page's head. Page got up and asked World Combat Champion Ray Chapman, who was running the ram line, if he could withdraw until I was done. Chapman said yes.
Later, I borrowed the gun again in New Hampshire. The front pistol grip, which was not molded-in but glued to the forend, snapped off in my hand soon after starting on chickens. It was about impossible to hang onto that .358 with just one pistol grip. 200 grain .358's have a way with rams. David Bradshaw

Much better. Now to refinish to match the stock. The stock before was for a 26" bull barrel, and this is one for a standard rifle. All I had to do was open up the channel. Also, since this was originally a handgun barrel, the forend didn't match the contour of the barrel at the rear screw hole. It resulted in a 1/8" gap between the barrel and forend. This would have resulted in a broken forend at some point or another. I built up the chamber cutout in the stock with JB, then sanded it to match the barrel contour. Now the forend contacts the barrel at both screw holes.
