I've got a little Browning Belgian 22 I've had for years. When I got it (can't remember when or how much) It had a GORGEOUS little blonde forend and a cheezy Miroku looking mega varnish rear stock. I couldn't figure out why until I tried to "clean" it one day. snapped off a piece of the rear stock trying to take down the gun. I know of one other person here that has done it, won't say who. Are we the only two that have done this? If you have done this, what did you do to remedy the situation? The gun is one of the old ones with no serial number, I can't get rid of it. but I also cannot restock it with that hideous japanese wood. Thanks

I've don the same. Fortunately my rifle was a Japanese unit so I did not damage nice Belgian blonde wood. Actually, mine had been broken and when I got it I managed to really bust it up.
I asked a friend to repair my stock. It's functioning great, just has the uglies in the broken spot.
The best way to avoid breakage (IMHO) is to have someone show you the correct "method" to tighten stock....the "obvious" method will break 'em all day long.
Good luck.
