I've a Redhawk in .41 Mag with Hogue finger groove grips. I don't really care all that much for the grips (they feel too long & narrow) and I was wondering what you prefer.
Either I'm not looking in the right places, or there aren't many options in wood grips for Redhawks.
Let me know your preference or suggestions.
Thanks,
MadBadger

madbadger, on my Redhawk I had the grip frame rounded and a pair of stock wood ruger grips rounded to fit. a picture example is on Taffins site under pistol gallery. The 4" Redhawk model. Found the grip sufficient width and contoured for comfort at any recoil level. Also, who can beat the look of real sticks. My hawk was a 45 colt and I pushed it sometimes.

I like the factory wood magna style myself. I would be looking at a set of Harrett's Jordon Troopers for handling a lot of heavy loads. Rob

I would either go Ropers (fit to the hand) or maybe something like the old S&W Magna grips, I here they are available for the Rugers from somebody but have a look at Herritt's website you have a good chance finding something suitable there

NBY, The Redhawk already comes with magna-style grips.

Oh, yeah, sorry, I was thinking of the Super Redhawk, but if you don't like the Hogues the factory wood Magna style is an option

I've been searching as well for some nice stocks. I picked up a pair of nicely figured walnut grips (factory) to replace my rather mundane rosewood factory grips. They fit better and look 1000 times better. However, since mine is stainless I've been wanting some black grips with the factory contour. Either thinking of some black paper micarta grips in the factory contour with no medallions or really have been curious about trying/making some factory contour grips made out of a hard rubber; still get the black color I want but maybe a little tackier.
Trouble is finding the right type of black rubber to play with: correct hardness, shade of black, and size.

Factory grips.....
I bought mine as is - with the Hogue's. Guess I'll have to scare up some replacement factories. Though I agree, it sure would be nice to have something a bit fancier......

Nice original Mountain revolver you have there Rob. I've always wanted one from the original run.

inFALable; The Top is close to the original a 1 of 500 "Mountian Lion" & an second run MG on the bottom. I too, wish I had one of the originals, but an loath to pay the asking price. twbryan: Thanks! That set on the 6" 629 came from cubrock- he had a momentary lapse of reason posted them for sale & like the true friend that I am, I glomed them up:-) I love my Mountain Gun & I love it even better no that it has the Harrett made stocks on it. The Mt. Lion has a fako set of Pachmayr Jordon's on it. Rob
