I have been carrying my "new-to-me" 353 Casull periodically, with nothing to show for it except holster wear...the gun is a Single Actions Frankenstein of sorts, with the Reeder-stocked FA being liberated from "The Set", and the 4X Leupold coming from a Contender barrel that I acquired courtesy of the Dogs. Here's a picture of her all dressed up to play... I have some reloading plans for her in the offseason, but work, play and life has prevented me from bench time this hunting season. So I ran through some factory .357 ammo and decided on the 140 gr Barnes Federal loading for experimentation. I am planning on running 140gr Barnes and 180 gr Nosler Partitions - courtesy of the testing work by Mr Taffin Fast forward several weeks to yesterday... After reviewing a trail cam card at lunchtime today, it was an easy decision on where to hunt this evening...the camera showed daylight hog activity almost every day for the past week, including a couple of really nice boars. Given the stand location, the gun choice was easy (kinda) - my unblooded, new-to-me FA 353 Casull. 30 yards - Federal factory 140 gr Barnes...sow was broadside, shot just below and behind the ear. No tracking necessary - complete pass through. Can't wait to handload some "Taffinesque" loads with the 140 Barnes...should have a dramatic effect on deer-sized game!

Dogs - one of my offseason projects will be to work on the 309JDJ and find the sweet spot with load development. Fortunately, Ken and Zeus have contributed to the pre-research...

Nice FA........... and a nice hog Was not familiar with the revolver to be honest. Did I read right that a standard 357 mag could be loaded faster than a 357 Maximum? ? Is that correct? Thanks Sir

Thanks Sir In the lerge frame FA only, that is correct. Search the Interweb for a Taffin Tests article, I believe. Great job, SCHunter!! Nice bacon and a great looking revo. How big was Miss Piggy?
