A good friend and mentor of mine passed away 4 years back... he was in his 70s, but had just begun a new phase in his career and moved from Albuquerque to California after finishing a big project. His passing was sudden, and I wondered a time or three what had become of his guns,a Norinco 45 ACP and his pride and joy, an M1 Carbine. I lead him to the carbine in the milsurp happy days of the Reagan era... Woolworths. $150. I feared that California may have gotten his guns... but then I got a note from his son, showing me the M1, along with his own slight modifications. He wondered if I thought his dad would approve. What a great sport we engage in... a father absent 4 years can still be with his son, and a picture can bring a tear to the eye and evoke a memory of a great absent friend.
