Ok, the severe S. Texas drought does not seem to have affected our hog population to any significant degree. I saw at least 35 yesterday and both guys I was hunting with saw quite a few as well on their respective stands. Lets post our hog kills in this thread along with a few lines as to range, caliber, etc. 99 yards, 7mm GNR Contender, DRT spine shot. Im in my typical S. Texas cold weather gear...

Fermin-I keep hearing about the feral pig issues down South. Up here on the tundra we periodically hear of some deer hunter seeing one near St. Peter, MN. I have not seen ever here in the Waseca area. We usually wear longer sleeves in the Winter up here. As much fun as it would be to hunt them, I don't think our farmers would want the problems.
How does it taste?

Hat, Fermin, wear a hat so we can tell 'who's who' in the photos.
Good shooting, BTW.

Only time I've been this year was back in January I think. Need to go again soon About 110 yards I think with the 309 JDJ. Thats just a short shot with this gun but its quickly becoming my trusted long range pistol after some really memorable shots over the past year. It makes you look good when you shoot it . Hey Sheriff, I'm the one in the hat

these fellows checked into the hog hotel. their depreciating days were stopped by a 329pd loaded with 240 gr. swc in front of 7.5 grns unique at a range close enough so you don't hit the trap. i was deer hunting doing a little walking and stalking. i had sat down injun style under a tree when i heard something coming up the trail behind me. i looked back and this hog comes up the trail. he was as tall as me while i was sitting on the ground. i felt blessed to have a remington 760 in 30-06 in my lap. the range was about 25 yards but it sure seemed closer.

We trapped these guys 2 weekends ago, all about the right size, so Ray and I put the harvest on em. There was a gut pile you couldnt believe. My brothers showed up to help with the skinning a quartering. I got gutting duty....

WHY a black hat Glen? Good guys wear white. We don't have any hogs here in this play ground.

I got this hog in February. Snuck up on several sleeping in a pile near some bait and only this one had its head hung out. Dropped this one on a hot August afternoon. I used a Super Blackhawk in .44 with 250 grain Partitions for both of these hogs. In both instances the bullet struck the hogs as they faced me, penetrating the skull, neck bones and into the vitals. Both bullets were recovered . These are the bullets plus one recovered from the ground behind a deer I shot. This is typical performance for the Partitions and suits me as about right for hogs.
