Gonna do a bit of bragging here.
Randy and I first deer hunted when he was 8,the first year of Missouri's Youth Season. He got his first deer sitting on my lap,she was 125 yards away. He refused my multiple requests for earlier shots because there was grass blocking the heart shot. When he finally pulled the trigger the deer ran about 30 yards and dropped while running.
This morning Boo had a legitimate shots at 6 does for lack of "clear" shots and a 150 P&Y 10 pt at about 60 yards that he did not take because there was a multiflora rose bush covering the heart. About 20 minutes later he whacked a button buck at 70 yards with his rifle rested on my back.
When I was cutting up his deer I took time to think,Randy/"Yogi" has killed 9 deer and the Boogster has killed 4. Out of ALL of those deer,the FARTHEST I have ever had to track any was 50 yards and the total amount of meat that has been thrown away because of bullet wounds MIGHT fill a big butter bowl.
So I guess what I am trying to say is I am VERY VERY proud of my boys. They will kill a deer to put meat in the freezer but NOTHING will make them risk undo suffering by taking a shot they are not comfortable with.
