Congratulations, you did well. I thought the 350 Norma was the go to moose caliber over there??
I don't think it gets any better, relative to tasty moose meat, than a calf.
Did mama stick around for a short time? I ask, as some years back I knocked a calf down and mama held her ground for awhile, as I approached the down calf - I wasn't real sure just what she was going to do but she finally trotted off. Dancing around a tree with a moose gets old real fast.

No she left almost immediately, but i have heard stories about aggressive cows. I had a 358 Norma magnum for a short time but it messd up to much meat for my liking Regards mathias

Congrats on a succesful hunt with a classic round. I've had a thing for Westley Richards since I first starting reading Elmer Keith - nice to see someone taking one into the field.
As for the moose, it should be tasty - I've never had moose but I hear it's excellent. I'm still applying for a moose tag here, but it takes years to get one.
I have a Husqvarna 46 in 9.3x57 that is a thumper on elk. It spent most of it's life in your homeland but has found a new home here in Colorado. I love the "Swedish Potato Chucker" and have converted a few of my fellow elk hunters to the round. It provides far more killing power on elk than the ballistics tables show us. My hunting partner and best friend always says "when you hit an elk with the 9.3, they know the gigs up".
Thanks for sharing and I'm again wiping drool off my keyboard looking at your rifle!
Well done.

Hi Ranger499 Thanks for the kind remarks A Swedish M/46 in 9,3x57 you say ? This is a picture of the rifle i shoot my first moose with, a m/46 in 9,3x57 Sadly it doesn't get as much use as it deserves but i keep some 50 or so rounds loaded with 286 gr sp just in case Mathias

Mathias,
That's a twin to my 9.3, but I'm all about iron sights . . .
I was lucky several years ago to buy out a local gun shop going out of business and have about 30 boxes of Norma factory loads in 286 gr. My best friend and hunting buddy bought dies and reloads for us as well so we are well stocked in 9.3x57.
I had always said the 35 Rem does better in real life than it does on paper and a friend said I should check out the 9.3x57. He was RIGHT and there are many converts here in Colorado.
Great to hear from the land where one of my favorite rifles was born.
Best regards, Brian

Mathias,
I'm another 9.3x57 lover. I have three in my safe right now! Great rifles. For me, they are natural pointers as everything just lines up.
I shoot Speer 270 grain Semi Spitzer with Vit 135. I'd have to look up the charge, ( I think 50.0) that runs 2350 fps. This puts the bullet to the sights on my main rifle at 200 yards.
