Hey guys,
Just recieved a new (used) gun that I bought and was a bit bummed in the condition when I got it. It seems as if someone used steel wool or a brush of some sort to clean it, especially on the left side. I'm guessing since it came from a pretty humid state that maybe it sat on that side or in a case and got some surface rust at some time and the owner or someone tried to clean. The scratches are very fine that's why I'm thinking steel wool. The finish on all the sharp edges is pretty worn too which happens easily when using steel wool. There is quite a bit of honest holster wear too that I'm not as worried about.
I guess I can't blame it on anyone as I bought it through the net and didn't ask for more pictures, although I'm not sure the fine scratches all over would really show up on a picture anyway. I could have asked more questions and maybe found out more but didn't. Lesson learned.
My question is do any of you guys have any idea what it would cost to have a nice blue job done on a blued revolver? I would want a nice job as it is a nice revolver. I would love to have the frame case-hardened by Turnbull but am thinking this would cost a significant amount to have it dismantled and portions blued and the frame colored and already have a bunch into the gun so would like to keep the cost down a bit.
I plan to use the gun and hopefully shoot it a lot and hunt with it. I could just leave it as is and use it since I'm sure it will get wear from the use I will put it through anyway, honest wear doesn't bother me but the fine scratches on 50-75% of the gun are just driving me nuts.
I'm sure some of you have had guns refinished so thought I would ask.
Thanks
