Elmer talks about the rifling in old .45 caliber Smith barrels being shallow.
Is the rifling in a M25 .45 Colt S&W barrel suitable to have put on a single action and shoot cast bullets or is it better to wait for a re-bore of a M29? Anybody done it?
Rifling depth and twist are my concerns. If I'm going to put the $$ and the wait into a full blown custom I want it to be right.
Thanks!

The 45ACP barrels from the 25 & 25-2 have quite shallow rifling. I have a couple of later 25s (25-5 & 25-9; the 45 Colt versions) and they have deeper rifling, much more "normal" looking.

I built my 5" 45 Colt M29 conversion using an 8 3/8" barrel from a 25-5 and it shoots great with cast bullets.
