To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

USAJohn, what's your purpose in posting that? Are incidents of that nature the "proof" you need to say God doesn't exist?

What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.
The road can be rocky. I'd thought I had conquered my greatest mountains in my path, only to find myself winded by some foothills.
Keeping things in perspective is challenging on a good day. We are all tested and struggle with what drives us, regardless of source.
I have been blessed more ways than I can write. I too wonder if I am going to walk Job's path. I try to use my gifts to instill blessings amongst others; often people I have known only for seconds. The service we render to others is really the rent we pay for our room on this earth. It is obvious that man is himself a traveler; that the purpose of this world is not 'to have and to hold' but 'to give and serve.' There can be no other meaning.
I chose a career that involves service to others as its core. Due to changes in our society, it is of concern that this career path will be proficient in providing for a family. My spouse has chosen the same path. Keeping the Big "F"s that Mr. Taffin shared in perspective has done incredibly well for us.

Very well said ohnomrbillk. Thank you. If it was of any help at all, I'm truly glad. There are two quotes there. One from the family poet, and one from my favorite medical missionary. The words are not all mine. We all stand on the shoulders of giants, and learn from the trailblazers. I give credit where credit is due. I've have learned a great deal from some fine people in this world. Amongst them are numerous members of this board.

Best way I can sum up a lot of stuff. A quote by Richard Petty after the death of his Grandson Adam. "We learned in this Family long ago,ya dont put a question mark where God put a period".

In 1999 my Wife had a stroke on top of her diabetes. She steadily got worse. We prayed for healing, we saw others in our Church healed. Kathy was not. We'd asked Jesus to be our savior a number of years before. About 2001 we started asking that if Kathy wasn't to be healed, that others would see Jesus through us. I hope someone did! In 2002 Kathy passed away. I was lost except that I knew God was still in control & that gave me peace. Later God placed another Godly Woman in my path & we married. God is still in control. No matter what happens, who wins or looses, who is president, God has won the final battle. I just have to keep believing till I see him. That helps me keep going. Frank

What drives me? That is a tough question to really answer... as in drop the guard and defenses and just be truthful. For me, I am driven to try to be a better man every day, and to live my life in his image. I fall woefully short pretty much every time, but I still try to earn his love and blessing, and the sacrifice that his only son Jesus made for all of his children. Not sure I ever will, but I'll keep trying. I feel like I do not deserve the blessings the Lord has provided me, such as my family, my health, etc. How can our Lord continually forgive and provide to those who do not deserve his love? That is a question I ask myself a lot, and I'm not sure I'll ever really know the answer until the day I go to meet him, if I've earned it. I think my life is a testament to others that no matter how many times you fail, or fall short of his expectations, that he will love you so long as you love him and ask his forgiveness. I am a sinful man, with great intentions, and I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through him all things are possible. I will pray for each of you who have had hard times and lost loved ones. I can't imagine that type of loss... and I thought I had it bad for losing my job in January. I'm so blessed to have the good folks like all of you here to lead by example and help each other. I learn about a lot more than just guns on this forum... for that I am thankful. Praise be to God.
...Foxx

That's a very honest response Foxx and thank you. I feel much the same way you do. The best I understand is that the Lord looks at our hearts and he knows who's puttin' on the dog or who's truly sincere. Keep the faith and yes there's much more to be learned here than just sixguns.

I can see no good future for this, our country. Many things my Dad worried about and I thought little of, have come to pass. We were a GOD fearing nation, and had His blessing. No more. Most of our elected officials, I'd not allow on my property, let alone front door, or back. Scum with a nice smile and a degree or three. Sigh. Need to go shoot sumpin' and grab a beer. stevemb
