Ahhh for the day when an accurate 1911 was simple and good... They were built with tool and die maker skills. Think I'll repost pics of my Clark Long Heavy Slide. Long slides and matching barrels were pure custom. The markings under the slide mean that the last three digits of the serial number are 461 and it was built in May of 1974. Look hard at the pictures of the flats of the slide toward the muzzle end and you can make out the weld where the long slide was made from two slides...

Clark's "Tiger Tooth" stippling was a wonderful thing for sweaty hands on a hot summer day. Only saw one other gunsmith use that style. It was a full up 22LR 1911 built by Fred Kart. Kart's stippling did differ from Clark's stippling in that the teeth were in straight lines not staggered like the Clark.

Kevshell if I'da seen those pics you might have won the L'il Gizzy. So I watched 60 minutes tonight for the first time in about five years. The first three sentences of the article on the Iranian missile attack on our Iraqi base was how bad the last president was. Never again.

I’ve seen this a few times before - all Clark guns. Haven’t handled it personally, but…man…I gotta think that would tear these delicate hands up.
