had a difficult tree to drop, that I've been putting off, because of the difficulty... this 20" trunk faster growing green ash was growing in the middle of a group of 100 year old red pines, badly shading one of 100 year old red pines, & rubbing up against a newer white pine... had some old Apple trees on one side I wanted to keep... ended up I only had about a 20ft space to drop it, & the tree was not leaning in that direction... took 3 wedge cuts, & a straight cut on the trunk, & a little persuasion from the tractor to get it to twist & drop in just the right spot... & nailed it

Tuesday? No tree cutting here.. Bumped the powered charge for the 88 grain 9mm HPs 1/2 turn on my SDB. Got about 100 of these bullets I need to send down range just to get them off the shelf. Loaded some really pointy 200 grain bullets for my Windham 300Whisper/BO pistol. Pulled out a Vortex 3X Prism scope to strap on the top of it.. Sounds like more SHOOTING to me!

No shooting today at this house. As soon as the wife gets back from the free medical clinic we load up two mules and ahead east on I-84. We will spend tonight at a buddies cabin on the top of Deadman's Pass east of Pendleton then tomorrow we head to the Moss Spring trail head on the west edge of the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. We will unload, saddle up then take a 8 1/2" mile ride into the Minam River Lodge for a two nights stay. The lodge is by the old former Red's Horse Ranch and is all solar powered but from what friends who have stayed there say and from what the website pictures show, it is far from roughing it. It will be the wife's first ride into the back country of eastern Oregon and while she is a little apprehensive about the length, I told her not to worry, we can ride a mile or two then get off and lead the animals if her seat needs a break. Since the lodge is in a wilderness area you walk in, ride in or fly in and land on their small private grass air strip. There are outfitters that will take you in on their animals but I figured why rent critters when I pay to feed and care for them year round. Here is a link to the lodge. www.minam-lodge.com/

Robb,
A few friends have done the same trip and LOVED it! Another friend and his wife flew-in for a weekend and loved that too. I am sure that you and wifey will really enjoy it. I swear The Eagle Caps is a place where God kissed the ground - so beautiful.

Almost loaded some 38 Super today... Dang SDB set up for Super was an arms length away from the 9mm SDB. Maybe next time.. Of course the pull to the 550 set up for 44 Special sitting on the far end calls to me too... And the 45 Colt 550... and... and... and... and... Then can't forget the old RCBS Rockchucker… Good thing it is only Thursday, August, and 2019...
