Yes. All your other redeeming qualities make that much more appropriate!

This target was shot at 25 yards not 50 while I was sighting in the gun for the first time... Winchester standard old 40 grain JHPs have always performed well in all my Magnums... Bob

This SS is pretty finicky. It HATES Fiocchi 40 grain JHP and CCI 30 grain JHP. It LOVES WW 40 grain JHP and WW 34 grain Supreme. They both do 3 shot groups of about .6" @ 25 yards ---- but the Supreme groups 2" lower than the 40 grainers.

I have great luck with the Remington Premier Magnum RImfire 33 Grain Accutip-V PR22M1. They shoot much tighter groups than some Winchesters that I used to shoot. 2" groups at 25 yards from the rest are routine.

What various 22 Magnum loads do you guys find most accurate in your Ruger Single Six's? I SPENT THE MORNING TESTING A 9-1/2" RUGER .22/.22MAG. 13 .22 LONG RIFLE LOADS; 9 MAG LOADS. AVERAGE FOR LONG RIFLE WAS 7/8"; AVERAGE FOR MAG LOADS WAS 7/8". EVERTHING SHOT WELL. BEST .22 GROUP WAS 5/8" WORST WAS 1-1/8"' BEST MAG GROUP WAS 3/4" WORST WAS 1". AGAIN EVERYTHING SHOOTS WELL. THIS IS AT 20 YARDS FROM 73 YEAR OLD HANDS AND 73 YEAR OLD EYES. A YOUNG GUY MIGHT DO BETTER.

With all due respect, I have owned 4 convertable 22's and 1 Bisley Singe Six. IF I have something serious to do with a .22.........I use my MKII Comepetition Target,Walther or even Beretta Neos before I reach for my ONLY SS.

I've been so pleased with the WW Mags in my SS that I use it only with the Mag cylinder. It means having 22 rifle performance on your belt, and then some.

Ya'll are making me want to find a magnum cylinder and have it fit to my old Flatgate. I also have considered having one cylinder punched out to .22 magnum. I picked up that idea from Rev Jim Taylor!

Your FlatGate might be bored to 22 LR specs --- The SSs made for Mag cartridges (beginning in about 1960) are bored to a slightly larger size. This doesn't cause a problem for 22 LRs as the soft, heeled bullet upsets and takes the rifling. I'm not saying that you couldn't do this -- just that I wouldn't. PS If your SS was a later model and bored for the Mag cartridge, you WOULD be able to buy a Mag cylinder of the appropriate length (or slightly longer) and fit and use it in you SS, which is what I did.

Yeah, don't fire Magnums through a flatgate. I think the bore is .219 and you need .222.
