Oh wow, that's neat! I remember those ads very clearly from my childhood - reading my father's gun mags and thinking "Why in the world would anyone want something so anitquated?" How times have changed. What I would give to pay $209 for a new .45 Colt now!

I picked mine up recently for $279. Sure seems like a well built gun. Though, it will probably only ever see 44 Special level laods.

Great ad for a company that may have been ahead of its time. They could probably sell a lot of those revolvers today. I have a Virginian Dragoon, 7 1/2", SS, 44 Mag. Every time I take it to the range, after 4 or 5 shots, the young guys come over to watch. I let each of them shoot a few rounds and someone always gets out his iPhone to make a video of his buddy experiencing some recoil.

The early Dragoons had a few glitches, mostly around rough bores and over-sized throats. By 1978 Interarms got ahead of this and the Virginian became one of the highest quality SA's of that era. In fact, the only single-action I've found with better lock-up is a Freedom Arms. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
