The days of glory from winning the Linebaugh Penetration Tests are long gone. Lee Jurras' selection of his Linebaugh 475 as his one gun that would be the last to go no more that a simple footnote in the pages of the books on great cartridges. Let's not let the 500L and all the .50 bore newbies stand in the spotlight alone and take all the bows. Lets show a little respect and post pics of our favorite 475 Bore revolvers. What better to start the thread with serial #1 of the Linebaugh Wyoming centenial series that came about in 1990. 5.5 inch barrel, barrel band, Bisley, Bowen target rear sight, Dustin Linebaugh sheep horn grips... Everything that is right about a Linebaugh custom.

You've got to actually shoot them, Axe, and not just post pictures of 'em. ;D That is how you show them respect!
I no longer have a .475 Linebaugh, but intend to get another, but mine accounted for a whole lot of game. Great round!

Axe, where are all your other 475's? You're only posting one picture? I own two 475 Linebaughs (a homebuilt Bisley Nimrod style and a BFR). Great round and I hardly consider it forgotten or misunderstood. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

;D ;D ;D Guess that is my prompt to get to posting. Planning to go slow and post one at a time. FWIW I'm thinking I may own as many 475s as 500Ls.. We all remember my most recent acquisition, a 475 Maximum Linebaugh Custom with ivory micarta grips and a banded barrel. Barrel looks 6.5 ish with that Ruger Maximum length EJRH. Made a personal note of the fact that John marked this one "475 Linebaugh Long" Not "475 Maximum"

So let's post one that captures the evolution of a large rim 45-70 based wildcat to a small rimmed, fit in a FA, commercial success. Was it Buffalo Bore and Jack Huntington that get the real credit for jump starting the process? There has been BB 475L marked 475 brass out there for quite a few years. You will actually see Huntington Customs marked and chambered for a 475 JRH that is identical to the commercially produced current small rimmed 475L. FAs implementation of the cartridge in the FA 83 made it the production line success that it currently is. Now for the tale on this specific 475L. This one started life as just the average run of the mill 7.5 inch FA 83 Premier Grade. It was originally bought new by a high school buddy was has been my best man in two of my weddings, our own TangoCharlie. Along the way it went back to FA for a cracked grip and got fitted with black micarta and received an action job. I'm thinking it was most likely the first FA I ever held in my hands. To make a long story short TC's neck is bad. After multiple cuttings, cadaver bone, and all that, he received strict instruction that it it recoiled he could not shoot it.. The FA 475 and the Harley had to go. The FA moved to my house..

Fast forward a few years and we find a 475L Bowen Nimrod teetering on the brink of the possibility of becoming ours. The dawgs and I continued our epic struggle over a set of spiderman boxer shorts. The stars aligned and BOOM!! we have another 475L. Sack Peterson separated it from the others with a nice set of elk stags with black eagles.

It's been a while since I posted this one. It's our 475 Linebaugh conversion from a few years back: -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
