I was out shooting this morning, I forgot how fun these things are!!! My Dad bought 3 three of these (1 for each of his boys) about 30 years ago at a California Highway Patrol auction in Sacramento for $15 ea....................... those days are long gone. Man, I still can't believe how much things have changed sometimes. It's changed barrels/stocks/scopes/triggers+ alot more over the years.............But this one is Mine ;D

Nice looking gun! After 39 years of life, I have never owned a 10/22 until recently. I remember the days of seeing them in the Sunday sale paper of the local sporting goods store for about $90. I should have bought one then. My friend was looking to sell his stainless 10/22 and he offered it to me. It is now mine and on its way to becoming a target gun. I just put a Volquartsen hammer in mine a reduced the trigger pull to about 2lbs. Now I need to remove the creep. A heavy barrel is next. Mark

Everyone should own one or two 10/22s. My first came in 1974, still have it; also have a "Liberty" model (made in 1976). One tip: do not buy any other high capacity magazine (25 rounds) unless it is RUGER brand; you'll save yourself lots of frustration...the Ruger mags work flawlessly.

I've not yet fired, nor own a 10/22. I grew up on Marlins & have 4 Marlin .22s- a 99M1, a 60, a 795 & a 39A.
I'm enough of a modder/tweaker as it is; don't need a 10/22 to tempt me into even more projects I can't afford.

A number of years back I was looking at 10 22's and at that time they had taken a jump in price up from $62. I told myself at the time I would not buy one until they came back to $62. It has been quite a few years and I have owned Marlins, Winchesters, Anschutz, Remington’s and CZ's. The outcome is quite evident.
The other day I was in a local gun pushers and they had a stainless take down model that had my name on it and I took it home. Mounted a cheap 4X scope on and took it over to a local gun range to try it out. The little thing functions very well indeed. Broke it down and put it together again and it maintained the same impact point within reason so I am impressed with that part of it.
I tried a number of different ammunition types in it and so far the Fiocchi and Federal Lightning seem to work the best. It also seemed to like Wolf and I will try these again. Winchester 555 is a waste of time as well as the Remington gold bullets. I need a few thousand through the rifle and then we will try for the accuracy again and see what happens. So far the best is 3/4 inch at 25 yards. Not a bench rifle however it is minute of rabbit.

Mine wasn't $15 but cheap enough that even a single aftermarket part is as much as or more than I paid for the entire gun. That fact has helped me leave it alone and I like it just fine as it is

I have also replaced the extractor, bolt buffer and magazine release lever with items from Kidd. I am also planning on a 20 moa scope base with a Weaver 2 X 7 scope. www.coolguyguns.com

Steve, A friend told me he was surprised I'd bought a 10/22 (3 years ago) when I had Marlins, Winchesters and a perfectly good Model 64 MP Anchutz in the safe. I had wanted one for years. But I wanted a clean older carbine with walnut and metal pieces vs. plastic. I bought this gun from it's original owner and I intend to keep it. It's just what I wanted....clean with nice wood. I have shot the heck out of it with few if any misfires. It's lightweight and a joy for new shooters (since I have had a good trigger group installed). That's all the changes I will make to this older gun. I will be buying (actually buying back from a buddy) a stainless 10/22 with a black composite stock...this gun I originally bought for $100 at a pawn shop, then my buddy "needed" it! So about a month before I expect my paperwork comes in on my suppressor I'm gonna buy back that gun and have the barrel threaded. It should be a great companion to my 22/45 Lite (a recent acquisition). What's not to like about the 10/22? Just a few tweaks and a part or two and you are dingin' the bell! Nice gun. Bob

Very nice Steve. Here is a pic of one of the 13 or 14 I have built: FWIW every one I have finished shoots 1/2" or better at 50 yards - or I don't stop tinkering with it, until it does!

I think I have 7 now including an International SS that was my dads, a 17 Mach II conversion, a takedown and a couple of pre warning deluxe carbines.
