Which size sourdough pancake for my 5.5 Bisley. Do i order the "Big/old Vaquero" Blackhawk or Super blcakhawk size.
Also do i need a hammer strap if this would be for a hunting back up gun in tight brush and hills . I will be using it strong side and cross draw.
Thanks

Super Blackhawk and reg Blackhawk will have the same frame, be the same size. The original Vaquero is made on a large frame but since it has fixed sights some holsters may not fit the BH's taller, more prominent sights.

I can't tell you about the size but you could call Rob. I have a Sourdough Pancake for my 4" Redhawk that I carry mostly strongside as my backup hunting/fishing bear gun. No need for the strap because the pancake does what it's designed to do and sqeezes the holster. In fact, I unhook the strap and just stuff it off to the side, makes for a quick draw if needed. However, carrying crossdraw it's not as secure, I alway use the strap, the gun will fall out if I bend over like in the pic below. The strap is also nice when the gun is not on me and I'm moving it around etc., keeps it all together nicely. My .02

If your a belt and suspenders kind of guy go with the strap. The pancake without the strap will hold yer piece ,even if a Barr is swatting you around ;D

Yep the blackhawk and Bisely are the same frames. If your going to use the Chesty Puller Straps get the hammer strap. Mention Single- Actions.com and we'll try and get a little something extra in the box for you. Thanks guys! Rob

I second the suggestion to call Rob www.simplyrugged.com he will fix you up. I suggest the inside out straps too, never know when you would want a IWB holster. I have one of his holsters for a G19 & love it. Frank

Ordered one for the wife today... Actually a Simply Rugged "Flapjack." This is the Sourdough Pancake with a flap cover. We're going to put velcro on the back and stick it to the side of the console in the Wife's Yukon. Ordered a left handed one so the orientation would be proper for a right handed shooter from the drivers seat. She has been carrying a high cap 9mm jammed between the seat and console for years. It bothers me when it pops out when I jam on the brakes. Had the holster idea when I snagged her a Glock 19. The flap just flips out of the way and will keep french fries and coffee out of the gun... I'll post some pictures here in a few weeks..

I've used it for mounting ham radio gear in my truck and it's much stronger & won't come apart in a critical situation. I've found it at West Marine and similar stores. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=CllWfW1UHe4

Looks pretty good.... I'd think it would be something I could pick up at places like Lowe's, Home Depot, ACE, Walmart....

Thanks Frank
