I'd hate to try to post a step by step and miss something, so I'll just say that before I swapped my first hammer, I bought Kuhnhausen's book. Well worth the money. www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=615772I'll give two blackhawk hammers for one bisley hammer all day long. (or until I run out of blackhawk hammers)

Looks a lot more complicated than it is.... The grip frame has to come off. One of the screws that you remove locks the hammer pin into the frame... Once this screw is out you can push the hammer pin out with your fingers. Don't think the hammer will come out until you at least partially remove the trigger... You will get a real thrill out of the spring that holds the trigger pin, springs the loading gate, and powers the bolt... Have a nice clean well lit work surface... Don't force anything and don't be afraid to ask for help. Good hot fresh coffee helps... ;D

Axe is right about that little devil of a spring. I finally broke down and bought the little tool from Brownells and it makes ALL the difference in the world on removing this spring and then the trigger pin and bolt.

There's a TOOL!? I have been clamping the top strap to the coffee table and using one brass punch in the left hand to compress the spring and a brass punch in the right to move the pin out.

Just buy it John. It saves so much time it isn't even funny. Just be careful you don't overtighten the screw lke I did the first gun I used it on. I had to order a new spring.
