I sometimes have too much time to ponder things...and was thinking how about a 30-30 BFR reamed out to fit .307 Winchester? I reload for and shoot a Winchester lever .307 and the ballistics are great, getting real close to .308 ballistics. I have a 45-70 BFR and the 307 round against the cylinder fits length-wise nicely. So what are your thoughts?

OY VAY!! Is the BFR up for pressures to 50000 psi?

Doesn't the .500 S&W chambering generate that much? And at least with the 307, there'll be a bit more meat in the cyl compared to a .500.

OY VAY!! Is the BFR up for pressures to 50000 psi? 50,000psi is no problem, there chambered in 454 and 500s&w. What I see as a problem would be the amount of neck found in that case along with the taper. I would expect it to back-out and lock up the cylinder.

Wouldn't a 30-30 BFR in stock form also have this problem (back out and lock up)?

Still it aint for me. Novel idea though perhaps.

The gun can take it and setback may or may not occur. I've run 40,000 PSI with my 30 Streaker without a problem. Sounds neat. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
