I tried to build an AK based Dragunov with a Romanian WUM... interesting enough Project, but alas, my initial reason for the tinkering turned out to be a dead end... so, for fathers day, the misses bought me a slide fire AK stock. On it went, and off I went... and it is a hoot. Anybody else playing with these?

I have one on an AR. It works just as advertised. No learning curve to make it function correctly (and that's a first for me). Easy to control the desired number of rounds in a burst (not so much where they go however). Loads of fun, but you can run thru a bunch of ammo in a hurry. It takes some getting used to -- it is fired by pushing forward on the fore end.

No, Eric Holder does not want us to have those evil assault weapons... No...he really does... if you're south of the border. He has an outreach program in effect....

The AK slide fire taught me a great deal in 120 rounds: first, I learned the value of a well thought out compensator... and second, I learned how hot an AK can get in 120 rounds. VERY. Third, I now understand the strange shape of the forward grip on an AMD... and why having Bactine in your range first aid kit is a good idea. Hanging on to this rascal was akin to clutching an irate 8 pound housecat at arms length. Exhilirating, and hard to master...

A broom handle duct taped (Or bailing wire) to the for-end works wonders... you should look at a 75 round drum as well...

Played with them a little in New Mexico about a year ago and they work very well indeed. However I much prefer an AR 15 selector with a 10 inch barrel and a supressor. You have better control. They get very hot as well in particular the supressor. There is also a lot of blow back into the action when supressed.

Duct tape? Perish the thought... we don't call it "duct tape" down here, Rob. The proper term is "Texas chrome plating"....

The proper term is "Texas chrome plating".... I had always heard it referred to as "Southern Chrome". And remember boys, nothing says poor craftsmanship like wrinkles in your duct tape.
