Here are some of the photos, Hopefully others will send more. Gunny the shoot mascot. Yes he does wear the ear muffs as long as he's around gunfire. Penetration tests We do shoot some big bones too Tim with the Max shooting on the range All ages are included. This young man is on his 2nd year attending. Me with a BFR 500 Smith with 700 Grain bullets at 1100 fps The resulting group. Unfortunately the bullets showed smudging on the holes, indicating yaw and insability. The rubber grips were not to my liking, as it was a hot day and they were like trying to grasp a bar of soap in the shower. This year even PBS, yes a public brodcasting station came for an interview of the club and it's activities. It just happened to be on the start of the Linebaugh seminar and will be featured on Illinois stories. Hopefully we will were a good example for others.

Light load that got double charged? That isn't supposed to happen to something so nice...... Heartbreaking

A very experienced and cautious handloader, who is a bencrest competitor, purchased a new scale after 40+ years. The intended load was 16.0 HS-6. However instead of the increments being 5 grain ( 5+5+5+1= 16) it was actually 10+10+10+1=31.
There is no criticism intended in my post, merely we can all make the simplist of mistakes, especially when we do things as a creature of habit. I have two scales, one with 5 grain increments, one with 10. I have taken notice and learned that I need to be extra attentive when I use them.

The only thing hurt was the shooters emotions.

Great photos Todd. Thanks for sharing. And that's a shame on the 500 Linebaugh. My dad taught me years ago to visually inspect every case after throwing a charge. That said, it can happen to anyone, even the most experienced of reloaders. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Sounds like the offending scale must have been a RCBS 1010(same thing I use). Still a sad end to a Linebaugh and an excuse for me to stick with H110.

Yikes. Send that busted one to Alan Harton and he'll weld it all back together and have it shootin' in no time. ;D

Breaks my heart to see that Linebaugh. I know the owner is heartbroken too. Helps us all to see it and to understand that it wasn't done by a loading newbie. A little sanity check for each of us.

Other than the blowup it looks like you guys had a great time. Is that Tim in the 4th pic, Tim V. from Evansville, Ind. ? If he's the guy I met a couple of years back he had no trouble at all handling the recoil of anything there. That man is a Hulk.

I have meant to ask Lee, Whitworth and/or ?? how do the 475 and 500 Linebaugh's (or equiv's) do with the "standard" 400 or 450 or so gr loads launched at 1000 - 1100 fps in the same tests. Short of the few, if any, that will chase buffalo like Mr. Seyfried and instead may carry the extreme to elk, moose, perhaps grizzly/brown bear it would seem that what I have suggested would be plenty? Your view?
