and im not sure why  my small town gun shop is closing, so after work i stopped in, walked past the black guns and shotguns, to the small selection of leverguns. they had a blue Marlin 1895G, 45/70, straight stock, 18-1/2" bbl. Priced at $450. I figure "What the heck, would be good incase a group of rebel moose & bears on harleys ride into town and try to have their way with our women". Front sight hood was missin, i ordered one, along with a big-loop from wild west guns, a skinner sight "alaskan" model, a leather butt-cuff from Galco, an uncle mikes hammer extension. Should be a handy little rifle, but i have no clue what im gonna do with it.  |

I picked up this one last week and am loving it! Don't worry, you WILL find a use for it. I have a hillside covered with dangerous rocks-sometimes they charge right unexpected-it will work wonders on them with 400gr cast!  Rooster |

LOL, I did the same thing 10 years ago...walked into a gunstore and saw a used like new guide gun 45-70. Had no use for it, but it sure was cool. I can't remember the last time I shot it!! Oh well, who cares, that's what makes life great: choices!!!  |

well the front sight hood, big loop lever and skinner sights all showed up today. guess that'll give me something to do tonight between dinner and 8pm when Conan comes on tv.

Just look thru the Hornady reloading manual,there are LOTS of things that rifle will do.

Don't fret none, that .45/70 will drill half inch holes in what ever comes a strollin' up to have their way with yur wimen.

Friend at camp has one, I'm envious. Having a mild case of SASS interest going on, so pistol caliber lever might have to be the choice, but if not, then I too want a 45/70 lever gun ! Ka-BOOM ! steve b

I have the Marlin MR model in .450 Marlin with 22" barrel. Most accurate lever gun I have ever shot bar none. Talking sub-MOA with 2.5X scope. A definite keeper.
