Lucked into a New Model stainless Blackhawk in 357, pre warning. Serial # puts it early '78... barrel is the short 4 & (5/8ths?) It was wearing a big clunky set of Mustang grips... I reshod it after the first range trip. I guess I have been remiss in my shooting, as the 357s have never stayed with me. Had a couple of N frames, a K frame or 3, but they never really excited me much... I like this one. Was not impressed with the 38 special accuracy, but the magnums with jacketed slugs seemed to group passably. The throats are not exactly uniform, but pretty close. Pin gauged at 357 for two and 358 for the rest. The rifling seems a bit shallow, though... and I guess the dislike of lead might indicate a throat constriction? Any bugaboos specific to the 38 rugers I should be looking for? I ask because I know if it wears the phoenix someone here has an encyclopedic knowledge of it, and I just haven't been enthused about a 357 before.

Many thanks... its not a custom, and don't feel a need for any serious tweaking other than a bowen rear and perhaps a different front sight blade... and that action is smooth. Guess I'll get to bore sluggin and maybe look for a 9mm cylinder.
