Hello all, here is a pic of my Encore in .308 Winchester. 17 3/4" fluted bull barrel from MGM with the Holland Q.D. brake.

Looks like a good way to check how well your paint is stuck to your truck! My first Encore was a 15 inch 308... I learned quickly that GI ball was not the thing to shoot in it... Handloaded 110s were much more pleasant... ;D

With a 17.75" barrel can you put a buttstock on it if you want? It would be a single shot rifle with a barrel over 16". Unless someone looked up the serial number, one would think it came as a rifle. It is funny how people think a Model 7 with a 16" or 18" barrel is too short, but your pistol proves that length of barrel is effective. Ironic, ain't it?

It is entirely legal to go from pistol to rifle and back as many times as you want, where you get into trouble is when you go from rifle to pistol, BATFE's stance is that is just a plain no-no and will be happy to give you 5 years in a federal prison for doing so. However a loca lagent out of the youngstown ohio office told me they really diddn't care about the contenders and encores as long it isn't a short barrele rifle configuration because there are so many out there and it ws designed specifically so you could buy the pistol and make a rifle out of it with minimal work
