Am picking up a New Model BH 41, 4-5/8" tomorrow. Curious how difficult it is to convert to Bisley. Is it just a matter of buying the parts and bolting on, or should I send it to someone.
Not crazy about sending it out and doing without for months.

I have a couple that are just bolted on, but they sure look better once they have been fitted by a professional.
You can have full functionality with noone but yourself being involved if you know how to detail strip a NM revolver.
Kinda depends on your comfort level with a file and bluing if you want it to look like it came from Ruger that way.
I was gonna link you the Brownells kit you need, but Brownells has apparently just updated their website in manner incompatiable with my current system.

I did this pre warning 357 - 357/44B&D last year. Bolted up easy enough but took a few hours file work to trim the frame horns to match.

You can do it yourself, I've swapped a few gripframes in recent weeks and most went real easy, a couplr required a little file work around the frame horns and don't forget the required hammer spring strut, and hammer when you do the swap (I don't think I forgot anything, if I did somebody please chime in)

Here you go. Everything you need but the hex wrench (get one with a ball end), and the grips. If you want factory grips, ask around and you can get take-offs cheap. www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=319/Product/BISLEY_GRIP_CONVERSION_KITYour friendly neighborhood gunsmith can probably get it cheaper for you. My catalog shows list for the kit at $175.29, with dealer price at $140.23. Website is 196.99, I guess prices went up since I got my catalog. For $100 more (not counting grips), I'll be dropping a #5 grip frame from Power Custom on the next one I feel needs a new grip frame. (you need a hammer with PC's kit, but not a trigger)

Why don't they put together a stainless package like that?

Stainless parts are not regularly available from Ruger.
It took me six months of searching and backordering to put together a stainless set.

Thanks gang. I knew you guys would know how to go about it best.
Found this 41 at a shop here in Houston for a reasonable price, so snapped it up. Should be a good addition to my Accusport 45.
Appreciate your help.

i am new here, but i just did this conversion about 4 months ago.i wanted a 5 1/2 inch bisley in .45 colt so i went downtown and found a blackhawk which had been on the shelf for some time(i guess everybody wants a 40 s&w auto pistol.), paid for it and had it put together that night.I have put goodies on it like the no. 5 basepin and steel ejector rod housing.next is the crescent ejector rod and an over travel screw, free spin pawl.when i get back into the innards i will clean the trigger up.i also put a bisley cylinder in,i had to clean up the chambers as my 350 cast bullets wouldn't chamber in all cylinders.i have a tight reamer from clymer and it opened the throats up a little.velocity dropped about 30 fps,but my consistency is about 12 fps from low to high.ok,i'll shut up now.jim

There's not a thing wrong with not being able to put your 2 favorite guns down
