I am going to attempt to install one later today.
I will be using Kuhnhausen's book. I thought I would ask if anyone here has special advice before I started.

Do not make the cylinder sit hard on the pawl. Just make sure it carries up to the bolt notch (cylinder stop). You need to be able to wiggle the cylinder a little before it hits the pawl with the hammer cocked. Power Custom will tell you shorter is better, and it doesn't even need to carry all the way up - that inertia will finish the job. I think that is dangerous, in case you cock the hammer slowly.

Also, if you are changing the hammer, trigger, or base pin, do that before you fit the pawl.

No problem. Just remember you can't file more metal ON to the pawl.

I used the Power Custom Free Spin Pawl on my SBH. It was as advertised "Drop in ready"... I did stone the sides to clean up any burs or tool marks but cylinder alignments ended up dead nuts on, so there was no need to file the landings.

I've installed over 14 of the Powers spin free ... 6 were drop in , 6 required a little stone work and 2 of them need a lot of work . The direction that come with the pawl are easy to understand and very accurate ......
