Don't know what to say... Had been wanting one of Reeder's proprietary large cylinder frame guns.. Needed to be a 500 Maximum and in Bisley configuration.. To make a long story short Gary posted one last week. I contacted Gary and worked a deal. All I have for now is Gary's pictures of the beast.. Pictures won't post this morning... I'll post later..

So now you have two to shoot, right? ("shoot" being the key word ). -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

You'll have your hands full with those. Quick question on the Reeder 500 Long. Why such a stubby basepin?

ported? there must be something amiss down there in 'Bama. It was bad enough that 2dogs barking shot a 2 foot snake and now you spend good money on a man's toy and have it ported? No wonder those Yankees invaded way back when.

When you buy off the shelf you have to take them as they are! Don't know about the short BP... Yet. Let me get the beasty in hand and we'll take it apart, compare, measure, and then put it back together and shoot it!
Retire! You bet! Almost 5 years past my full retirement point already.

It'll be interesting to see which of your 500 Maxs shoots the best. Definitely keep us posted Axe. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Interesting that the two ports on each side of the barrel appear to be directly inline with each other. With the four port Magnaport job my 454 Super Redhawk has, the ones in the back are lower than the ones in front (by the front sight).

Pretty sure Reeder sends the gun to Magnaport for porting.

It even has a port on top of the barrel, behind the sight base. Didn't even catch that the first time I looked at the pictures. One thing's for sure, Axe won't have to worry about the front sight being black enough!

If I've got to take ports please do put them on the top. Daddy likes for me to shoot at critters out eating his stuff but he sure doesn't appreciate having the bark peeled of his fruit trees.

Just order it without the porting -- can you? Or did you purchase a gun that was already built?

FWIW Porting is not mandatory. "When you buy off the shelf" you take what is there. I've been lead to believe that Magna Port tested and developed the porting pattern at Reeder's request.
On that base pin.. Not in hand yet bit but, think about this.. The 5.5 barrel is a bit shorter that usual and the big Reeder cylinder frame is longer than a Ruger Max. I'm betting the short head is to at least to get the cylinder out.. May be to get the pin all the way out.. Either way we'll know soon.
