Doggonit!!!! I gotta stay off'n this site. I was only mildly interested in a .32 until I started reading some of these posts. Now...a fellow near here has a Ruger Birdshead 32 mag stainless for $425. What do you all think? Not that I don't need a "little" gun..how's the price? I can't seem to find them hardly anywhere.

A couple of custom Harton 32s that I LOVE: 32 Stainless Birdshead Single-Six. Alan shortened the barrel to 3-1/2" and removed the warning; installed J-frame rear and custom pinned-blade front sights; SLICKED-up the action; fit a custom-made Belt Mountain "nail-head" base pin that Kelye was kind enough to run-off special for me; BP-beveled the cylinder; installed a crescent ejector rod. All this was for a VERY reasonable price - I did inquire with him about having it converted to 327, but that would have more than doubled the price of the conversion, and I just didn't see it as being worth it (Alan agreed). The ONLY thing I wish I'd done differently is, I should have had Alan fit a Bisley hammer. I also need to get some nicer stocks - a custom sixgun DESERVES custom stocks! (pics by Alan)

Harton 32 Magnum Super Bearcat (five-shot) conversion. My FAVORITE 32 (and one of my favorite revolvers of ANY caliber), this is just one of the neatest little things I own. Everyone who shoots it, WANTS it. Mine is the blued one, built on a "safety-converted" Old Model Super (steel-frame) Bearcat, and it was Alan's first 32 Bearcat conversion. The stainless one was built right after mine for my Yooper pal Lloyd Smale, who has since given it to Al Anderson's beautiful daughter Meg. Sights on both are J-frame rear & custom pinned-blade front. Stocks on both are American Elk by Eagle, fitted by Alan. EDIT 04/19/12: An interesting thing about Alan's 32 Magnum Bearcat conversion: Alan and I had heard of some 'smiths having trouble with the 32 in a Bearcat because the larger bore left little meat around the barrel threads, making the forcing cone area weak and prone to cracking. Alan uses a larger-diameter barrel blank, rather than reboring the factory tube, and re-cuts the frame to accommodate, eliminating this problem. Alan also uses a larger five-shot cylinder, and he says his conversion will take any load a Single-Six can. I haven't tried to blow mine up, but I have shot quite a few stout loads in it.

okay...why don't you just go ahead and put my head in a vise and then use that big 10 inch spike laying over there... But seriously, thanks for taking time to post all the candy photos. The first one was enough... I just sold (I think) my Pedersoli Gibbs that I couldn't use anymore due to back problems (don't think I'll be shooting any big guns from prone anytime soon) so that about seals the deal. I love the 3 1/2" barrel on the Birdshead. I'm taking notes....umm, Bisley hammer... I have a gunsmith right around the corner who has one of my guns now. I'll see how that works out and might let him work on the .32...oh, that means I swallowed the bait, if I'm not too late.
