My son bought an AWA longhorn 45 Colt, 5 1/2 barrel at a gunshow. Looked really nice. When we tried to shoot it yesterday, it would not turn the cylinder to fire. On looking at it, I found that the bolt was not retracting out of the cylinder notches when the hammer was being cocked. It had worked OK when loading, so it was a pain to get the cylinder back out. On disassembly, it looks as if somebody had been into it. All the parts were present and looke good, but when I removed the hammer. a small piece of steel fell out that was not any kind of SAA part. I finally figured the cause of the problem. If I pushed down on the bolt slightly before attempting to cock, I could hear a small click, and the bolt would retract on cocking. It appears that the arm on the bolt is not quite being lifted over the cam on the hammer when the hammer is dropped. I wonder if somebody didn't replace the original bolt with a part that is not quite right. Anyway, I wrote (emailed) to AWA to get their take on it. Anybody ever had this problem?

If it's like a Ruger it could be the hammer spring/plunger. That is what the bolt "rides" on while cocking - thereby retracting the bolt/cylinder latch. Maybe that's what fell out when you removed the hammer?
