tn gun runner,
I saw one of those in a shop the other day, not sure how it's chambered. I'm not usually one for out of production guns but I've been pondering that one.

tn gun runner, I saw one of those in a shop the other day, not sure how it's chambered. I'm not usually one for out of production guns but I've been pondering that one. It's not out of production gun . The action is model seven rifle and the trigger is a model 700 and could be order in Remy custom shop . Now with all bets are off with these co take overs .

The single shot mid grip Remington XP-100 is indeed out of production, and has been for a number of years, when Remington stopped their Custom Shop production of it, after the company was spun off from Dupont. I don't recall what year that was, but for the sake of this discussion, let's say it was sometime prior to about 1998-1999. When I spoke with Tim McCormick, who was managing the Custom Shop in those days, he told me that he had been campaigning hard to get Remington to reintroduce that single shot, but he was not successful. That single shot action was not a Mdl. 7 type action, but rather a 40-X type action, with a rigid solid bottom. I've sold a few of mine over the years, but I still own one outright custom by David Armstrong, and 4 Rem. Custom Shop versions in .223, .250 Savage, 7mm-08, and .308.
On the other hand, the repeaters with a rear grip are indeed essentially Remington Mdl. 7's although they are roll marked "XP-100". They were never quite of the quality of the single shot versions, and were also dropped not long after the single shots were dropped...perhaps a couple of years or less. The mid grip shown in the photo above is, of course, a single shot after -market custom job.

I have several others if anyone is interested. Please don't. Nobody wants to see any more of those guns. We'd rather see pics of pink Glocks & gold plated Desert Ego's.

It's an excellent shooter...good enough for Half-Scale silhouette competition. And that is with full-power rifle loads.
