I acquired a SS S&W recessed .357 cylinder (6 shot) and I'm thinking that if I could get 9mm moon clips that I could rework the cylinder to shoot 9mm and possibly .38 Super out of it with my model 64 S&W. I'm guessing I would have to open up the chambers a bit and time the recess depth to the overall package to get it to work. Might have to fit the moon clips to the .38 Super case, too. BUT, I have not found any 6 shoot 9mm moon clips anywhere.
Are there any moon clips like I would need for sale anywhere? Haven't found any yet. I thought it might be a nice conversion but what do you think? I haven't found anyone who wants to buy the cylinder and ejector star and I feel I should be using it for something besides a pencil holder.

If you rechamber it to 9mm, you will ruin it for use with other calibers. 9mm cases are heavily tapered, and the bases are much larger than that of a 38 Spl, 38 Super, or 357 mag case. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to be, because 38 Special cases are so cheap. However, the information you seek is here: www.moonclips.com/Since the original 357 chamber will act as freebore for the shorter case, I wouldn't expect much as far as accuracy.

Contact TK Custom or Pinnacle, you can still have it moonclipped for 357 and 38, but then it can't fire them without the clip... I'm a fan of the extra caliber myself, and you can usually find extra cylinders w/ crane on gunbroker. Hell, you could have a set of dies modified to reload the newly formed casings!

Xs; My TK custom clipped gun can be used both ways just like my S&W 327 .357 mag can be used with or without clips. The clips are recessed the rims still rest on the outside of the cylinder. I think the extra cylinder and crane route for a 9mm switch caliber gun is a good idea. I have done that to my grand dad's old 38S&W M&P it has a 38 spec cylinder and crane now. On the M-65 you may want to have adjustable sights not sure put POI may be differnt.

I stand corrected. When I contacted TK, I was inquiring about clipping an S&W 500 to 50 Beowulf He told me that the 500 would require moonclips to work right... So maybe just in that instance.
