After seeing it the Ruger tuneup here , I decided to cut my guns to 11 degrees . Remember this ammo is loaded for fps not for accuracy for SASS/CAS . I cut the forcing cone to 11 degrees for cast bullets , there is not any lead deposit on barrel or forcing cone after 50 rds , 1st 20 rds on paper and other 30 rds on steel at match speed . Target and gun looks good , so I will cut my 2 match guns next .

All of my conversions get 11 degree cones. I'm pretty sure Freedom Arms and top smiths like Bowen and Linebaugh do the same. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I have another 44-40 I shoot only jacket in it , and wasn't going to do it . I also have a 357 mag and 357 max that I only shoot jackets only in them also . Would you leave them alone or recut them .

I bought the kit from Brownell's and have done all of my 41's, 44's and 45's that didn't already have the 11 degree cut. I primarily shoot cast but do toss jacketed's down the way at times.

It's been my experience that the 11 degree forcing cone does not hurt the performance with jacketed bullets but does help the accuracy and leading of cast bullets.

Ditto with Mark, Kent Singletary told me last year when I sent him my S&W 36 carry gun for a tune up that it doesn't hurt anything, but is entirely unneccesary if you're just going to shoot jacketed bullets, and most guys will never notice the accuracy increase shooting offhand, do you have a before target gunrunner? Now chamfering the cylinder mouths, I'd reccomend that to anyone for any gun

do you have a before target gunrunner? No , I have these pics of a steel target I shot for speed and handling test I did between 3 1/2 and 7 1/2 barrel , alternating guns every 5 shots . I'm a SASS/CAS shooter and the pic below was at match speed after I cut the barrel down .

I don't think recutting the forcing cone is going to help at match speed

Tn Gunrunner, thats very good shooting, I especially like that 20 shot group at 25 yds. Everyone needs to try that sometime, offhand of course. Quite a few guns can do that, not many shooters can. Very nice!

I replaced the firing and cut the forcing on this one also . If I knew the test fire target was going to be this good I would have adjusted the sights and loaded more ammo ..
