Could anyone with experience provide some information on these revolvers? I read that they are Italian/American clone guns, but not much else.
Do they use the same internals as Colt? Are they easy to work on? How is the overall quality? Do they make decent shooters?
Thanks everyone

Yes, same internals as Colt. They’re serviceable and can be decent shooters. I always thought they had a nice look.
Longhorns and Peacekeepers date from AWA’s 1998 – 2005 era. Longhorn was standard finish and Peacekeeper was premium. Their supplier at the time was Armi San Marco. ASMs quality was spotty over these years and the company was troubled to the point that it went out of business shortly thereafter.
I had a nickel Longhorn that I got new, and it was a terrific looker. First time I shot it nickel started coming off the cylinder in sheets. It had a great action, but it was too light. Ignition was unreliable.
I’m not entirely prejudiced against them at this point but I’d say buying at a good price is a must.

Thanks for the reply. Searching the internet I was able to find AWA information but no one mentioned if the Longhorn used Colt-spec internals. That is reassuring.
All of my SA revolvers are OM Rugers and I was looking for something just a little different. If I could get really smoking deal, I would consider buying this one. Anything other than a really good deal and I'll probably pass.
Thanks again

I've had a couple of AWA Peacekeepers and they were really nice revolvers. They had nice actions right out of the box and where accurate. Bill

I handled a blued AWA once and was impressed. Nice guns and I'm sure they'd make fine shooters. What are they bringing in the used market? -Lee www.singleactions.com

I believe they are still in business. I know the Jim Martin special kit gun is still being made. I had an AWA revolver, was impressed with it. I had the one with a coil mainspring, rest was like Colt. My SASS rifle is an AWA Lightning in .44 WCF. It works great. That is the secret to functioning. Stay away from .45 Colt in a pump rifle. AWA is still in business.
Longhorn and Peacekeeper were Armi San Marco build guns, and those labels were dropped when ASM went out of business.
AWA uses a Pietta build now which is always a really nice SA in its various incarnations for several companies (GW II, Puma, Cimarron Frontier).
Those Peacekeepers were very finely finished with an authentic case hardening. You will often see $500 - $750 asking prices for them on GB.

I sent the owner of AWA an email last night and got a reply today. Impressive. I asked about some specs on the gun and I received a detailed response. The reply stated that parts are still available through AWA but that basically, it has Colt-style innards.
Maybe I can make a deal on the gun. The owner is looking for only a trade but maybe I can get a $ price out of him.
Thanks for the replies.

The owner wants $550 for it. For that much (less, actually) I can get a brand new Pietta-made EMF. Oh well.
