Has anyone here ever applied the Brownells Gun-Kote aerosol? www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1150/Product/GUN-KOTE-trade-OVEN-CURE-GUN-FINISHI am considering coating my 475 BFR and was curious how this holds up in the real world. I like the fact that it is only .004 thick, so it shouldn't cause too many issues. Also, it shouldn't affect my soldered on sight base since it only has to be baked at 300 degrees. I didn't like the bad reviews about the problems with the nozzles though!

I used it on an AK build and also on a 1911 build. Both held up great and I didn't have any problems with the nozzles. Just keep cleaning out the nozzle after spraying by turning it upside down and spraying it clean. Don

I used it on a s&w m10. I did not have any problems applying it by following the instructions. It did not stay on the front of the cylinder after the gun was shot. I would not have a proublem using it on an auto. I would be reluctant to use it again on a revolver because of the barrel cylinder gap and the associated blast.

When it came off the front of the cylinder, did it chip away? I wouldn't have a problem with it coming off the front as long as it didn't leave an edge that would chip.

Yes, the finish would flake or chip off the front of the cylinder and frame at the forcing cone of the barrel. It is a good low cost finish. I would use it again to freshen up a ugly beater but the barrel cylinder gap is hard on that paint.
