I stopped by my friend's gunshop on Friday to make a payment on my Ruger .44 Special. Went well, probably pick it up next Friday. Didn't even look at any of the stuff in the display case. I was good...really I was.
I mentioned that my son's Airsoft 1911 needed a new mag release spring. It was releasing when he holstered it and one time the mag fell out and broke the gas seal. He said to bring it in and he would fit a new spring...probably be a couple or three dollars.
Stopped in today with my son and his Airsoft pistol...total cost for repair...$450!!!
Ya see, there was this satin nickel Colt Combat Commander .45ACP in the original box.
I didn't have the cash to pay for it, but my good friend said he would just stick it in the safe and I could pay it off when I got the money.
I'm just going to figure it as a Father's Day present to myself.

Yup, them kids toys are pricey. The guns are cheap, but it's when we try to do something for the kids that we get in trouble...

You should have seen my son's face when I told my friend to put the Commander in the safe for me...Big smile! He just loves to shoot my Springfield 1911, so another .45 suits him just fine.
Of course, the fact that down the road all of these guns will be his probably isn't bothering him any either. At this point, he stands to inherit somewhere around 40-50 guns. I expect that total will only increase over the course of time.
