Got the barrel back yesterday. It's actually 16.37" (as requested) The forend is a longer Boyd's Model. I don't have a std length walnut forend, but I will next gun show I go to. Stock is from Gunstock's Inc and finished by yours truly with a Limbsaver Slip on pad. I expect a little snap from 400's @2k, but hey , that's not much over my five shot big bores, right?   |

Personally.....I would probably avoid the T/C ONLY data in most loading manuals with that thing.

A short, light " 150 yard Sledghammer"!!!!!!!!!!!
I have some short Marlins but started with a 14 in TC Contender From SSK..

HOLY COW!!! That's too Bad!!!! Ya thinking a laminate or synthetic stock might hold up better to the punishment of those Grizzly's?
I'm thinking about getting a 35Rem barrel for my older contender carbine, but those shouldn't be a big deal compared to those hammers you were launching downrange!!!

I have contacted the manufacturer to see what they will do for me. The synthetic is back on it right now, I really want to take it out again tomorrow. The remington 405's plowed 3 ft long furrows behind my target. I will be de-scoping my .454 model 83 once this little animal is ready to go. The grizzly load in this gun is the hardest I have been hit with a rifle, including a 300 win mag at age 10. |

My other 45-70 barrel is still stock length, but was rechambered to 45-100... |
