I had a little time off today since it's MLK day so I decided I'd hit a few of the local shops and snoop around. Lately I've been buying a lot of my supplies on line so I haven't frequented the local pushers. I was looking for a few things in particular, such as loading trays, case lube and some finished ammo boxes. Holy crap was I surprised at the prices. You'd have thought they were the only game in town! Now I don't mind paying for quality and supporting local business but come on. $9.00 for a generic plastic loading tray, $6.00 for a tube of Lee case lube and so on. Even the used bins had retail prices on most items. The best deal I saw today was a nice Colt Python, blue, 4" barrel for $900.00. One shop owner told me to get ready, it's only gonna get worse. I told him, not as long as I have the internet and the computer. Anyway that's my take here in Florida. Is it the same all over?

I dont disagree with you. However, if we dont all do some business with the local pusher, we have no one to blame but ourselves when they close the doors for good.

I have to agree with Fermin too. A lot of people around here complain about our local "pusher" and his high prices. I have a 30 year relationship with the business so I get cuts on guns. Midway seems to get a lot of business here, but as I have told everyone, most of the time when all is said and done with shipping etc you dont really save a lot. I am also quick to point out that its the ONLY place within about 100 miles that STOCKS primers, powder and bullets.

+1 on buy local as much as you can.. Not some of the outlandish stuff like I've seen at local national chains but within reason buy all you can from your local dealer.

I don't think I'd be none to sad if the two pushers I visited today closed their doors for good. High prices with errogant service makes for bad medicine. I'll be honest, I'm not out there to impress anybody with how much money I can spend on a product and there was a time, if I walked into a local gun shop I left with something, just to support local business, but not anymore, when I can buy that something for 30-40% less from "Spitcup's Shooting Supply" in Arizona. I'm in business too. To keep as much of my dollar as I can. I'll spend money when I'm given quality product with proffesional service but when you're gonna sell me some Chinese or Mexican made piece of crap for a premium price then expect my dollar to walk out the door. Don't piss on my back and tell me it's rainin'. This computer has made the entire US my personal gun shop and I don't have to put up with the crowds, the lines, the errogant employees or the traffic to get there.
