I know this is a long-shot but does anyone have or know of a source of Siamese Mauser parts? I have the complete upper receiver for one to include the bolt. I just need the trigger guard, magazine well, and floor plate. I plan to build a 50 Alaskan bolt gun this winter and would like to use this receiver since it's like new. We have a couple of other Siamese Mauser actions, but I'd like to finish this one off. -Lee www.singleactions.com

That sounds great! Wish I had them. I wish I had a Siamese Mauser in 45-70...
first gun I ever worked on- helped steel wool the stock. First cartridges I loaded were 45-70s for that bolt gun.
Your project sounds outstanding. Lee, I will be in a very well stocked custom rifle shop this week. I will make inquires on your behalf.

Thanks Robb....I appreciate it. I found a place that makes custom laminate stocks for Siamese Mausers. The plan is to build a 22" 50 Alaskan, with the whole action and barrel hard-chromed. Express sights and a quick-detach low power scope will top it off. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I'll ask Rube Wells about parts. He is Fred Wells son. He happens to have an extensive Mauser collection.

I'll talk to my Mauser guy about what you are looking for. I'll let you know either way.

Thanks for checking Whit. I bought a complete Siamese Mauser rifle on Gunbroker last night. Great price and the gun is in excellent shape. Should make for a nice 50 Alaskan custom. If any of you run across parts though I'm still interested. Thanks, -Lee www.singleactions.com

BTW, if anyone needs a custom laminate stock for a Siamese Mauser, try these guys: www.rifle-stocks.com/laminated_blanks.htmI just ordered mine in black/grey laminate. 99% finished with a 1" Decelerator and sling swivels installed....all for around $150. Quoted turnaround is only 6 weeks. Really nice people to deal with too. -Lee www.singleactions.com

There is a siamese mauser at the local shop near me. I could probably get it real cheap. Let me know and I will check for you.

Should be a boomer. I heard once that you can really load up the Alaskans on a Mauser action. I guess it's stronger than the levergun version.

You heard correct. Contrary to popular belief, Siamese Mauser actions aren't weak. In fact, they're just as strong as a standard 98. I've heard 525 WFNs can go 2,000 - 2,120 fps on a 50 AK Siamese (22" barrel). We'll see what mine returns. -Lee www.singleactions.com

They should without a problem, Lee. If I can get 1,600 fps from an eight inch barrel and a cylinder gap, I would think 2,000 would be easy.

I agree Whit. In fact, those actions can take 60,000+ PSI all day. The only thing to watch with the Alaskan is case thrust with the big head. That said, I think some low 50K PSI handloads would push 525's to 2,200. As you know though, that WFN won't perform any better at 2,200 than it will at 1,500 fps. Just flattens things out. Now some Woodleigh solids are a different story -Lee www.singleactions.com
