You can also find used S&W's in excellent condition for a little more than a new EAA. I only own two automatics and both are 10mm: ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/10mms.jpg) They've held-up great over the years. That said, I still prefer 10 Auto on the 1911 platform. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Lee, I see these Smiths come up for sale quite often here in 'central Fl. at reasonable prices. How would you describe the feel, fit and function on these pistols? Are they worth the 450 to 550 dollar price tag I see on them?

Thats what I did. Springfield XD W/ Rowland barrel. And I have owned several 10mm's so I am familiar with it. The Rowland blows it out of the water.

I looked at the Rowland and found it intriguing, yet... if what I really want is "44 magnum performance", then the 44 magnum is just fine for that. I have a couple of good ones. 45 acp brass is plentiful, and I have dies, bullets, etc. 44 magnum? Ditto. I guess I don't really "need" to start reloading 10mm, chasing brass, etc: I already have more calibers to load for than I have time to reload. I thank everyone for their input.

Is the 10MM up to 850fps with 276gr boolits? www.singleactions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=other&action=display&thread=1932&page=3

230 grains of hardcast at 1100fps+ out of a standard G20 AND 16 rounds........I'll take the Glock and feel comfortable in any woods I walk in.

Don't rule out the EAA's. The older version with the heavier slide don't have any issues as far as I know. I've got one in 45. I have seen them converted to 460 Rowland and 45 Super without any problems. I think they're great guns, especially if you have bigger hands and single stack 1911's aren't comfortable.
