I've had the 10 mm bug in my ear for some time now, and while the Glock with a separate 45 top end has been the idea, I stumbled across a brand new full size witness in 10mil and I'm wondering... anyone have any thoughts or impressions to share? (I'm fascinated by the modular one frame 3 or 4 calibers idea...) Any help on which rathole to throw my money down will be greatly appreciated. I probably won't listen, but I'll appreciate it.

Groo here If you search 10mm [ glocktalk,,, ar15 etc] you will find that there are some problems with the witness.. If the gun is a round top slide as compaired to the flat side hunter type ,,, some have cracked. The wonder finish has cracking problems to as it seems to harden the slide.. But the biggest problem seems to be that EAA undersprings the gun. [14 lb where most go to a 20 or 22lb] 10mm shooters tend to load heavy as most of the big three load light [ try underwood, doubletap ect] I love the cz75 type frame and with all these problems would still look at one. Just invest in a good slide buffer like springco and upgrade the slide spring to 20 or about lbs...

Friend's Brand new 10mm Witness would not feed reliably. My 9mm will feed anything and is accurate as my 6" M-19. I have considered a SS 45 ACP as they have a good rep fior reliability. 10mm get a G-20 they work-0 I have had 2. Many AK friends swear by the M-20.

I've got friends who love theirs, but the 10mm Witness always seemed too small for this round (to me). That combined with EAA's renowned annoying service has kept me from picking up the ones I've seen for sale inexpensively. I've read a number of folks online who say they like theirs, however.
Me, I'll stick to the overbuilt S&W or the Glunks for this caliber. I load on the warm side, anyhow.

Hmmm... much to consider. I wanted a BrenTen desperately back in the day... I only saw one Bren, and it was in 45. The 10 was also problematic in the Colt Delta and the S&W wasn't it? My ex father in law had an Auto Ordinance 10, and he never could get it to shoot. Finally ended up converting it to 40 S&W as I recall. I like the look of the EAA, but, if its prone to disaster I should abstain. Should. Can't say for certain that I will, but I should.

Ok... twould seem the problem with the EAA has to do with the new slides, which are round, being undersprung, and not being properly heat treated. I pass. Thanks for the info, gang.

How about a glock 21 in 45 then get a 10pm conversion barrel for it. That's my path to the 10mm. I got the glock. Got to get the barrel and mags next.

Interesting points have been brought up. I have a Glock 20 and a Stainless Enhanced Govt. Mod. Glock will hold up because of frame flex.Colt needs to have a 22-24pnd. recoil spring and at least a 19pnd. main spring. The EAA slide does seem a bit light for the velocity it travels in 10mm. I don't have any experience with the gun in 10mm.I have a friend that guides hog hunters that carry's one with hot loads ,he has never mentioned any problems with his. But his is at least 10 yrs old.

I have a Colt Delta Elite, a Dan Wesson Bobtail and a Glock 20 in 10mm. They have all shot great for me. I love the 10mm!!!

My father-in-law's Auto Ord 10mm would never work with any of his cast bullet loads to his satisfaction, and another pals Delta gave him similar issues. His solution was to use plated bullets... I have considered the Glock, but... I've fired a couple, 9mm and 45 and found neither to my liking aesthetically or ergonomically. In the end, I think I'll just pass on the 10mm.

If you own a descent quality 1911, the Rowland cartridge is a no brainer.

If you really want to power up the 1911 platform the LAR Grizzly is out there...
