I would say the buy now price is right on the money. The box alone should be worth $300.
BTW, it's not a flattop, it's an Old Model Super Blackhawk.
Dennis.

Dennis,
I'm not a Ruger expert, but it's a flattop. Am I just saying/describing it wrong in Ruger circles? It's flat enough to set a drink on ;D

heyjoe63, These guys aren't steering you wrong. Your Ruger is an old model Super Blackhawk. It's not a flat-top because the frame rises to either side if the rear sight to protect it from damage. The flat-tops were flat all the way to the back of the cylinder frame like this beautiful example here... singleactions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sas&action=display&thread=6681All the Best Stump

Yup... Super Blackhawk 44 and Flattop 44 are not the same.. FWIW the mahogany box is appropriate for the SBH not the FT 44. Have you posted these on the Ruger forum? www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/ Unless Ruger specifies that the gun came in the mahogany case I'd recommend posting the gun and box seperately. Those guys get bug eyed about these boxes. The SBH looks like a decent shooter grade gun. I'd think that guys who buy the boxes want safe queens in them. Note that the long frame SBHs came in these boxes. The true collectors will be able to look at the space from the bottom of the grip to the bottom of the box and call it. That is way over my head.

I mostly collect vintage Great Westerns, so a flattop is a flattop. Because the top is flat ;D I guess it's different in Ruger circles based on history/model names.
I sent the serial number to Ruger, and they sent me a letter saying it's a SBH w/mahogany box.
So I would correctly say in my ad "Old Model Super Blackhawk" but without the word "Flattop" Is that correct?
Thank you all for your patience in educating me on this!

Sounds like you have your ducks in a row with the Ruger letter.. Post that thing on the Ruger forum. Clearly state that you have the letter from Ruger that says that it came in the mahogany case. Those guys like such things and have got the $$$s to buy them. If I had the bucks to spare I'd add it to my "set" myself.

Let's see, I bet Boge contacted WBH about this..... Here's the Super. Here's one of my "Long Frames" By golly, methinks we have a pair here! Collector appeal would be limited due to the condition, HOWEVER the scarcity of the Long Frame will trump part of the condition issues.... JMHO, Carl

You are saying mine is the long frame variation?
