A couple of issues you need to prepare your self for ...Once you own one of these 500 Linebaugh and then hang around here you will own more than one...I started two years ago...I now own a 4in/4.3/4 with oct bbl,5.5in with bbl band and a 4.3/4 Damascus oct ( being built by Dustin)...And then when you start on leather by Von Ringler you will need two holsters for each gun... Strong arm, cross draw, and then are they Tom three person,or thumb break Or.....even pancake in my case all the above! etc,etc ,etc So be very careful of the slippery slope your on it leads to a black hole.... ;D

On an adjustable sights Bisley, I'd go with the 5.5" with a barrel band. I think it just looks better balanced. I'd agree with this comment. It is my perception the beefy Ruger Bisley grip frame warrants this. Note how a slimmer FA does not need the extra steel out front so much (visually).

Montana Bullet Works has a very large variety of 500 Linebaugh bullets available. Quality stuff too. No doubt but I can get .501's from a local caster for a lot less than that.

I think that it is great that you can get a better deal at a local level for .501...However if .510 is the goal and you do not cast your self or have a local outlet then Montana Bullet Works is a great choice. I shoot 3000 plus .510 each year and this is growing....45 long colts we shoot 5000 plus all from MBW.

But if you're talking a Bisley Vaquero with an octagon barrel, I'd have to go shorter; maybe 4" to 4-5/8". If you haven't seen Boge's 500 Vaquero by Dustin Linebaugh you need to search around and find the thread. It's stunning. I gotta agree with this...as far as looks. However, the shorter bbls carry so much easier if you plan to use a strong side holester.

Just bought my first one. John brought it up to me a couple of weeks ago. Mine has a 5 1/2" banded barrel. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Got to build some bullets first. Looking forward to taking it out.

The banded barrel gives it a nice custom look. 5.5" is a perfect length all around for a gun like this.

Here is one without the barrel band. Note that the EJR is full length.

38 WCF -- that's a beautiful revolver! Indeed it is! I believe I was able to see that revolver while it was at Alan's. I strongly thought about going with a strait taper barrel and having the full length ERH on my .500L. it just "balances" out the gun very well............, but instead went with a 5.5" w/ a barrel band and the standard ERH

So many choices... So little money... How about a pair of 5.5 inch Bowen Nimrods?
