I have posted pix before of this old smokepole. I acquired it sometime ago and I really would like to gather some information about it. The previous owner claimed that it had been built for Al Ellinger, a pal of Elmer Keith, and included several features that were popular with Keith and his shooting pals at the time. They include: Bisley hammer Re-shaped topstrap with a custom-made rear sight, drift adjustable Custom cylinder base pin Wide trigger Possible modification to "Storekeeper" configuration Custom-made front ramp and sight with a silver square insert Caliber is .38 Colt--cyl has been replaced at some point by newer unit in .357, according to previous owner Engraving was done later in its life--I have correspondence from the engraver Any help on gathering information on this neat old gun will be much appreciated! Tim Thanks!

I don't know anything about the gun, but will say this. I wish it were sitting in my gun safe! I'm still drooling over the pictures.

A friend of mine's Father and Uncle took a hunting trip to Idaho back in the .40's. Their "guide" sold this .44 Special to my friend's Father. The guide's name was Elmer Keith. Carl
