Ok guys and possibly gals. Wifeypoo and I are watching another special on the Kennedy assasination. Everyone on here are shooters sixguns and rifles. I have seen several specials on this in the past where a "marksman" was tasked with firing shots in an alotted amount of time. Okay Oswald was a Marine and his shooting ability or inabilty has been publised many times. Even tho he qualified as a Marine firing a Garand, possibly one of the most inherantly accurate rifles of all time and Kennedy was killed with a Caracono, possibly one of the worst rifles of all time, not to mention the semi-auto vs bolt gun. My personal problem comes with the Zapruder fim. i have head shot a LOT of critters from squirrels to Black Angus steers and have NEVER had anything blow back towards the direction of the shot. If anyone else here has an opinion just say yes that the government has pushed a line of crap or no that I am wrong.

It was definitely a cover up.

I don't think the Federal Government, under any Administration, is capable or competent enough to cover anything up of this magnitude. I know there are lots of unanswered questions, but........

Its funny Sunday I was at a gun show that had the two St Valentines day Thompson's and attended a talk on them . The police officer who gave the talk spent close to 30 years with the department that had the guns and did a lot of research in how they were used etc dispelling such questions as why their were fired cases on a chair against the wall the guns were aimed at. At any rate on speaking of the most infamous guns in the world he mentioned the Lincoln derringer, Oswald rifle and this pair of machine guns. Interestingly enough he refers to the Oswald rifle as the alleged weapon would have been interesting to have heard more on that subject.

There's no doubt left in my mind that there was one shooter - Oswald.

At this point, I think it's hard to say what happened for sure. I think the car's momentum had more to do with things moving around than the rifle shot.

Human nature being what it is, no secret, conspiracy or otherwise, would have been kept for nearly fifty years. That is unles they are really buried in the desert outside of Terlingua.....

There's no doubt left in my mind that there was one shooter - Oswald. I agree. IIRC, Masaad Ayoob, and a couple others, have set up a range to replicate the Oswald shots at Kennedy. It is doable... even as a left handed shooter like Oswald with a right-handed, mediocre rifle like the Carcano. As far as head shots coming back I have seen it both ways, well... all ways; front, back and to either side. PBS ran a series of shows and one showed the head shot results.

How many of you guys who are dissing the Carcano have ever spent any time with one? They are well made guns and are capable of very fine accuracy. The 91/24 carbines, made by cutting down Model 91 rifles (and, thereby losing the gain twist rifling) will give one a poor view of Carcano accuracy. However, Oswald reportedly used a Model 38 carbine, which didn't have the shortcomings of its earlier cousin. Model 38s can be quite accurate.
That doesn't mean a hill of beans re: whether there was a cover-up, but don't knock the Carcano's capabilities based on something you've read from an ill-informed "expert."

For anyone still believing in a conspiracy theory, I refer you to the writings of Gerald Posner (Case Closed) or the late Dr. John Lattimer (Kennedy and Lincoln:Medical and Ballistic Comparisons of Their Assasinations). Both works meticulously deconstruct the possibility of a conspiracy. For my part, I note that almost all such theories, include the idea that Jack Ruby was sent by the mob to silence Oswald. Leaving aside the question of who was going to silence Ruby, etc..the mob does not have a history of silencing people with shots to the abdomen. They specialize in one or more small caliber head shots leaving nothing to chance. Barring a lucky shot to a major vessel, most people if rushed to a hospital as Oswald was, would survive an abdominal wound.

IIRC the guy who owns Lipsey's was the military officer who escorted JFKs body back to DC.. He did a presentation on what he saw here in Huntsville a few years back. I got an invite but didn't make it. Heard it was good.. Right hand shooter, left handed bolt? You guys know who Gary Anderson is? The set of high power rifle books I got from the NRA 30 years ago had pictures of Anderson, a left handed shooter, with his right handed bolt rifle demonstrating positions.. Government coverup? After 36+ years of federal service I have serious doubts.
