Those N frame guns with (IMHO) the proper magna shaped stocks just don't fit my hand.. Picked up a TR 45 ACP a few years back.. Loaded that thing up with WW match hardball and I couldn't shoot it for diddly. Thought it might be the ammo or the gun so I pulled out a matching 41 mag I had picked up. Same results. Now I may be rusty but as an old distinguished master class shooter, on the days my eyes are clear, I expect "pick the eyeball" accuracy at 10 yards out of everything. These guns were 10 yard head shooters in my hands.. Traded them both off the next day.. There will be no more.. Think 3.5 inch octagon, round butt, action job, micarta gripped 44 Special FA 97. You need to send an outline drawing of your hand and the gun to Keith Brown and tell him to make you a proper set of Roper's.

Since you are such a gun enthusiast and enthusiastic collector, how about doing Elmer Keith one better and commissioning a gun smith to build you something from scratch, using what Keith did with the #5 as a point of departure.
I'm talking about getting a FA model 97 frame as a rough forging, and having it milled and drilled to accept a USFA or Colt action. Bisley (Birdshead) hammer. Put a decent, clean-braking trigger in a FA frame. Marry the best of old and new.
Round butt grip frame of your own contour and angle. Black Micarta grips, 3.5 inch barrel (round or octy), dovetailed front sight in your choice of profile. rear sights of your choice or design your own. Push the limits. Invent a new gun. If I'm gonna spend somebody else's money, I want to do a really bang-up job on it.

Too much like 2 dogs for me. I'm perfectly happy with off the shelf production pieces with standard pick list options. Same with customs. Make mine straight from the catalogue. Simple guns for simple minds I always say
